Interpretive Essay 6
Submit essay on the following topic. Write "Essay on Wordsworth" on the subject
line.
Write an interpretive essay of at least two single spaced pages in which you demonstrate that Wordsworth's poetry propounds a religion of nature, recognizing an underlying spirit at the heart of nature which rouses Wordsworth to reverence and awe and influences him toward goodness and affirmation of himself and humanity.
Consider this theme in the following assigned poems, treating them in the order given here: Lines above Tintern Abbey, Intimations of Immortality, It is a beauteous evening, and The Prelude, particularly Book Fourteenth. Open your essay with a brief statement of purpose. Introduce your consideration of each poem by summarizing or characterizing it succinctly in a paragraph or less. In developing your essay, refer expressly, by paraphrase and brief quotation, to at least some of the passages of the assigned poems to which you are asked to respond in Readerâs Log 6A.
You may rely as much as you wish on the statements of the editors of your text and of your instructor without documentation, making sure to paraphrase their ideas in your own words with, if you wish, occasional brief quotations duly marked as such.
