Automotive Electrical Circuits

As shown below, all automotive electrical circuits have one or more of the following components:

  1. Power Source - Battery, Alternator, Capacitor, etc.
  2. Circuit Protection - Fuse, fusible link, Circuit Breaker.
  3. Control Device - Switch, switched on the power side or the ground side of the circuit.
  4. A Current path - Wire
  5. Electrical Load - Relay, Solenoid, light bulb, motor, etc.
  6. Ground path - leading to the battery negative post.
