This assignment involves reading chapter 1 of your textbook. Please base your responses to the questions below on the reading from chapter 1.

Here are the questions. (In your word processor, first write the question followed by your answers.)

  • Explain the Yerkes-Dodson principle and how it relates to you and your stress levels.
  • Explain the difference between eustress and distress.
  • Describe the relationship between stress and health & performance (Figure 1.2).
  • Describe the main differences between acute and chronic stress.
  • In your own words (not the same words that are in the book) define holistic health.
  • Briefly describe the main sources of your own personal stress and why you feel they affect you in unpleasant ways.

    Follow these instructions carefully:

Answer each of the questions first in your word processor. When you are finished, be sure to save your work. This activity has several parts to it. Do not leave any of the parts undone. It is better to do a bit more than a bit less than you think is necessary. That way I can be pretty sure you have read through the chapter and understand it pretty well.
