ABOUT INFORMATION SYSTEMS & TECHNOLOGIES
The Information Systems & Technologies (IS&T) Department provides students with a balanced education in computer technologies and business operations. It combines a technical core of programming, database, networking and systems design with a business orientation that will enable graduates to thrive in the modern business world.
The IS&T major prepares students to contribute to the information technology infrastructure of an organization. Upon graduation, they may work as a software developer, an information security officer, a technology trainer, a network administrator, a systems integrator, a database designer, a systems analyst, a computer technology consultant, or a website designer...the list seems endless and so do the opportunities. Graduates may be a specialist in a large organization, or may become a jack-of-all-trades as the only information technology (IT) professional in a small organization. Wherever they work, they will help make a difference in how IT impacts the organization.
IS&T faculty are all industry-experienced, enhancing classroom theory with practical applications. IS&T curriculum reflects the latest information technology practices, so that when students graduate, they will have the skills that are in demand. In addition, the IT community provides internships, an IS&T advisory council and classroom visits. While at Weber State University, IS&T students are introduced to the IT community and members of the profession.
