COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Provide resources and opportunities for faculty to learn and implement new technologies and teaching strategies to improve the quality of online course delivery.
EXPECTATIONS:
Meet with your Instructional Designer to decide on your certification plan. Complete all of the following. Note: Some requirements ask you to choose only 2 or 3 options on the list.
- Teach online course for at least one semester - required
- Complete the Online Theory and Technology Course - To be done on your own time. Approximately 4 hours.
- Attend the Using "Best Practices" Workshop: 1:00- 4:00 pm
Oct. 4, 2007
Complete all of the following:- Teaching in Vista - implement grading forms, goals, objectives and other tools to achieve learning outcomes.
- Design of Course - engaging to students, pedagogical basis for course design, usability, use of new technology.
- Assess student evaluations
- Attend the New Communication Tool Workshop: 1:00- 4:00 pm

Part II, Dec. 6, 2007
Implement 2 or more of the following in your course:- Video Introduction
- Wimba Voice Tool
- Camtasia/Captivate - i.e. narrated PowerPoints, tour of the course
- Make Course Available in Open Courseware
- Pod Casting
- Blogs
- Wikis
- Other ...
- Attend the Advanced Features in Vista Workshop: 1:00- 4:00 pm

Implement 3 or more in your course:- Media Library
- Interactive Learning Tools - Crossword Puzzles, Games
- Group Manager
- Customizing Icons
- Customized Grade Book
- CSS
- Attend the Assessments Workshop: 1:00- 4:00 pm

Utilize the following in your course:- Vista Assessment - Explore question types and build assessments with Respondus.
- ChiTester: Determine and configure appropriate levels of assessment security and statistical reports.
- Group Discussion on assessment theory and the impact of technology on assessment.
- Alternatives - Study Mate, Student Response Systems
- Peer Review - by Department Chair and 2 other faculty
- Present in a Faculty Showcase - April 3, 2008
- Peer Review another Course - future MOTC cohort
- Compensation: $1,000 in software, electronics or cash
- Estimated time to complete 40-60 hours
- Must be completed by May 1, 2008
